Surf books for kids and teens

Wanna get kids stoked on reading and surfing at the same time? Browse these bodacious books written with groms young and old in mind.

Mop Rides the Waves of Life by Jaimal Yogis

Jaimal Yogis has written some of my favourite surf fiction for grown ups. With the illustrative talents of Matt Allen, Yogis has created a visually joyful, soothingly mindful and linguistically gratifying surf book for kids.

Mop is a sensitive and fun-loving little soul who’s finding school hard-going. With a sage-like steer from his clever mom, Mop studies the wisdom of waves and learns to bring it into his life on land. Thanks to his newfound awareness and courage, Mop carves his way calmly across the waves of life.

The Amazing Surfbots by Sascha Utecht

Meet The Amazing Surfbots

Introduce kids to these surfing robots who save the day. The Amazing Surfbots, written by Sascha Utecht and illustrated by Luis Peres is exciting to read, fun to flick through and subtly educational.

Curly, Mick & Duke, are super hero surfbots from far, far away, they’re the world’s only robotic surf coaches. With their human friend Emmi they live by the motto: water, air and land, the Surfbot Rescue Team will lend a hand!

One with the waves by Vezna Andrews

One with the waves by Vezna Andrews

An amazing debut novel by Vezna Andrews

Vezna Andrews’ debut novel is an emotional journey set in 1980s Southern California, where sixteen-year-old Ellie discovers herself through her love of surfing. Born and raised in New York City, Ellie’s world is turned upside down when, at fifteen, her father unexpectedly dies. Her mother then sends her to California to live with her Aunty Jen and Uncle Charlie – both avid surfers.

Ellie’s new home is a sharp contrast to the loft in New York City. Grief stricken by her dad’s death, worried sick by her alcoholic mom, and bullied by her so-called classmates, Ellie’s teens are tough. Thankfully, Aunt Jen and Uncle Charlie introduce her to surfing, which becomes her passion, refuge and salvation.

I enjoyed this more than my daughter! One with the waves is an impressive, page-turning, easy-reading and thoroughly enjoyable read for young adults and the young at heart. With the bonus of an 80s soundtrack you’ll be adding to your playlist! Buy it now on Amazon or other fine booksellers.

Blue By Lisa Glass

The Lisa Glass Surf Trilogy

Lisa Glass has written a cracking surf trilogy for young adults, and it all starts with Blue.

Iris is a sixteen year old, set for an amazing summer of love, friendship, loss and adventure. When the ultra-talented Zeke walks into Iris’s life, surfing soon becomes her passion.

But is Zeke all he seems? What hides beneath his glamorous and mysterious past? When Iris decides to try for her own surfing success, just as her ex-boyfriend comes back into her life, she will test her talent, and her feelings for Zeke, to the limit.

Tempt your moody teenager into surfing with this trio.Find all of Lisa Glass’s books at Amazon or Waterstones.

I have a surfer boy who’s just turned 11. Unfortunately he doesn’t like reading or maybe just hasn’t found the right book yet.
I’m hoping to order your book as he loves surfing so I’m hoping I can combine the two to make it more enjoyable for him.
Please bring out some more books age 10+
