What makes a surfer girl popular? Women surfers usually get rated by sex appeal, sometimes by ASP ranking, but rarely by their achievements.
So I tried to devise a fairer way to rank the top ten surfer girls. My surprise solution was the Google Adwords Keyword tool. By simply entering the names of forty well known woman surfers, Google told me how many searches were made for each name on average per month.
Bethany Hamilton’s No.1 status is indisputable. With a blockbuster film, legendary life story and mega media coverage, Bethany attracts 3x the searches of her nearest rival.
The others are a mixture of world champions, surfer models and big wave chargers. But what they all have in common is exceptional surfing talent and a beautiful bikini body:
